The HIC Core Lab is located in Room 2-9905 (MRB) and is directed by Sally A. Quataert, who can be reached at 273-2454.
The role of the Core lab is to provide access to sophisticated techniques, protocols, QC reagents, protocols, core facilities and training opportunities.
The HIC Core lab will develop valuable expertise in approaches to answering questions in Human Immunology.
To spread this information into additional labs, we will offer two or more mini-fellowships per year, to support students, technicians or fellows for a period of up to six months to work in the HI Core lab and become expert
in some of the techniques of the lab. Selected students or fellows may also be sent to the AAI summer course in advanced immunology.
The expertise of the HIC Core Lab will also be communicated by holding training sessions, either in lecture or laboratory format as appropriate.
These are under development. For specific details, please contact Dr. Sally Quataert
Core Lab equipment includes the LSRII flow cytometer.
To take advantage of On-Line scheduling and for future access to this 8-color instrument, all
users will be issued a user name and individual password. To receive your user name and password
you may either contact Dr. Sally Quataert or if you have previous flow cytometry experience, attend
a training session given by Matthew Cochran. Please contact
Matthew Cochran at 273-4473 to sign up
for an available time. We request both new and existing LSR II users attend a training session
since we will provide a user guide, checklist and review new HIC Lab policies for LSR II scheduling,
priorities and rate structure. While >4 multicolor human experiments will have priority, other work
will be scheduled dependent on time availability. Once approved as a user, you may reserve the instrument
