Added to Online Collection
As more dentistry journals become available online, Bibby Library
strives to add them to our collection. Our primary goal is to add digital
versions of journals that we currently receive in print, however, we
occasionally have the opportunity to add new journals in an online
format only. We recently added subscriptions to the following online
journals, available through the Miner Digital Library:
Evidence-Based Dentistry - Coverage: 1998
- Present
This journal is aimed at general dental practitioners to help them keep abreast
of the best available evidence on the latest developments in various aspects
of clinical dentistry. It is also available in print in the Library, beginning
with volume 5, number2, 2004.
Journal of Dental Education - Coverage:
April 2001 - Present
Access to this journal is currently available by password for University of
Rochester affiliates. Please call the Library (275-5010) for information. Beginning
in 2005, we will have a site license and a journal-specific password will no
longer be necessary.
Journal of Dental Hygiene -
Coverage: Fall 2004 – Present
Beginning in Fall 2004, this journal became available only online. Earlier
issues are available in print in the Library.
Gerondotology -
Coverage: 2003 – Present
Full access to digital back files of this journal will begin in 2005.
Journal of Prosthodontics -
Coverage: 2003 – Present
Full access to digital back files of this journal will begin in 2005.
Journal of Evidence Based Dental Practice -
Coverage: September 2003 - Present
This journal is currently available free through Elsevier ScienceDirect. The
Library plans to purchase an online subscription in 2005, at which time, it
will be linked from the Digital Library. To find this journal now, click on
the link for ScienceDirect Online Journals in the Digital Library.
Help
Wanted
Bibby Library needs
to hire a student to work afternoons and occasional evening or weekend
shifts in the library. Applicants must be full-time, matriculated University
of Rochester students. This position involves customer service, circulation
activities and miscellaneous clerical tasks. If you know of anyone who
might be interested, please contact Beth Lange at 275-5010 or Elizabeth_Lange@urmc.rochester.edu.
Eastman
Dental Center Archives
Bibby library maintains the Eastman Dental Center archives, a collection
of historical materials pertaining to the Eastman Dental Center and
dentistry in the Rochester area. The archives are located in a climate-controlled
room within the library. The collection also contains many photographs
from past social events. Please feel free to stop in and browse through
the archives. If you have materials that you think should be added
to the collection, please contact Beth Lange at 275-5010 or Elizabeth_lange@urmc.rochester.edu.

Library Open House
For the past several
months, Bibby Library has been working on updating it’s look and
functionality – adding network drops for laptops, reorganizing
the shelving, installing new carpet, reupholstering the chairs, etc.
In celebration, we are planning an open house on Thursday, January 20
from 1 pm - 3pm. Patrons and visitors will be able to tour the Library,
check out the Archives room, and learn more about our electronic resources.
We hope you’ll be able to join us. Refreshments will be served.
