How to prevent a fall: Make your muscle stronger.

Strong muscles help you to avoid falls when you are sitting down, standing up and climbing steps. They also help you to have better balance whenever you are standing.

How can you increase the strength of your muscles?

  • Start an exercise program at a facility in your neighborhood, like the YMCA or the JCC.

  • Try lifting weights. It’s the best kind of exercise for making muscles and bones stronger.

  • Ask your doctor to check your strength and provide recommendations for helping you get stronger.
