How to prevent a fall: Check your medications.

Certain medications can have side-effects that may lead to a fall. Also, new prescriptions are more likely to cause a fall.

Take these simple steps to keep your medications from causing a fall:

  • Ask your doctor if any of your medications could cause you to fall.

  • Review your medications with your doctor at each visit.

  • If you notice unusual side effects of a new medication, call your doctor right away.
