Gynecologic Oncology

At Highland Hospital, the Division of Gynecologic Oncology provides coordinated, specialized care to its gynecologic cancer patients. All the resources a woman needs for treatment are available – from an experienced team of gynecologic and radiation oncologists, to the latest robotic surgical technology, to a specially trained operating room team with a dedicated women’s inpatient unit for recovery.

Highland has been performing robotic surgeries since 2008, and recently acquired a second da Vinci® Surgical System, making this state-of-the-art technology available to more women in the region. Robotic surgery has advanced the care of our patients. Traditional hysterectomy requires a three- to four-day stay in the hospital. With robotic hysterectomy, the length of stay drops to one day. In addition, the risk of wound complications with this minimally invasive technique is far lower.

Highland’s highly trained gynecologic oncologists do more than 400 robotic cases each year and lead New York state in the robotic management of gynecologic cancer.

Recognized by U.S. News & World Report as one of the region’s best, the Gynecologic Oncology service at Highland Hospital provides “Medicine of the Highest Order.”
