roofing restorations Begin August 22

Contractors will be working to restore the roof above the Circulation and Reference Desks, and around the skylight inside Miner's front entranceway, beginning Monday, August 22.

A roof drain also will be installed. This involves cutting through the first-floor ceiling and floor in several areas. The drilling will create some noise and dust, which we will try to keep to a minimum by asking contractors to start work as early in the day as possible.

Unfortunately, there will be some inconveniences for all of us, including:

• Computers in the semicircular "horseshoe" area will be temporarily relocated to Open Reserve, while the drainage pipe is routed through the ceiling.
• Some print materials in the stacks will be temporarily relocated while the drainage pipe is routed through the ceiling and side wall.
• There will be brief, periodic drilling noises.
• There will be noise coming from the roof.

The entire restoration may take one to two months.
