University of Rochester Mental Retardation / Developmental Disabilities Geriatric Resource & Training Center

  • Implement an intensive course in aging and MR/DD.
  • Implement an advanced course for clinicians in aging and MR/DD.
  • Implement a course on observation, reporting & recording for direct care staff serving older
    persons with MR/DD.
  • Provide experience in the geriatric assessment teaching clinic for older persons with MR/DD.

Project 4:

Ithaca College Gerontology Institute Geriatric Education in Rural & Underserved Areas in New York

  • Continue to provide high quality geriatric training in 15 rural Central NY counties using the Community Partner Teams Model, with the introduction of new training topics determined by each county team.
  • Expand geriatric training to the rural southern tier through a new partnership with St. Bonaventure University.
  • Implement Nurse Leadership Skills Training to long-term care nurses in Central NY & the southern tier utilizing existing curriculum developed by Ithaca College co-sponsored by the Central New York Area Health Education Center (AHEC).
  • Implement two online training modules.
