Gerontology/Geriatrics Internet Resources:

  • AARP's Ageline Database. A fee-based research collection of aging-related materials including bibliographies, journals, links, and more.
  • Directory of WEB and Gopher Aging Sites. This comprehensive list includes over 1200 links in more than 200 WEB pages. The four major categories of the directory are: Academic and Research, Aging Network, Long Term Care, and International. Maintained by the Administration on Aging.
  • APA Division 20. The official website of the American Psychological Association's Division 20, which is devoted to the study of adult development and aging.
  • American Geriatrics Society. The American Geriatrics Society (AGS) is the premier professional organization of health care providers dedicated to improving the health and well-being of all older adults.
  • Wayne State University Institute of Gerontology includes information about gerontology programs in the U.S., federal resources on aging, and links to other Internet resources.
  • Gerontological Society of America includes information about GSA programs and resources.
  • Multidisciplinary Education in Geriatrics & Aging includes twelve teaching modules on topics such as normal aging, geriatric assessment, nutrition, and mental health.

  • National Institutes of Health provides information on current NIH research including grant information and links to other research sites.
  • Bureau of Health Professions includes overview of program, grants and contracts, publications, student assistance, and a staff directory.
  • Department of Health and Human Services includes news and public affairs, consumer information, research/data, policy information, Grantsnet, and information about HHS agencies on the Internet.

  • Advance Directives includes facts and other useful information about advance directives.
  • Choices in Dying provides state-specific advance directives for a nominal fee, Staffs a counseling service on an "800" phone number, and publishes materials for the general public and professional audiences to help them better understand the issues and laws about end-of-life medical treatment.
  • Ethics. This site gives information abut the University of Michigan Hospital and Health Center's ethics committee, which gives advice on moral questions in clinical care, educates clinical staff and the public on issues in medical ethics, and develops policies related to patient care.
  • Wellness Information. You'll find information about clinical trials, community health, drug dosages and compliance, treatment options and research, how to select a health care provider, reports on dozens of illnesses and conditions, tips about healthy lifestyles, complementary treatment alternatives and options, and many more topics.
  • Assisted Living Federation of America. This site gives information about assisted living including news, events, and other useful information.
  • National Hospice Organization provides numerous types of information about Hospice services, a hospice locator, reimbursement information, and much more.
