Dr. Susan Friedman joined the faculty of the University of Rochester in 2000. She completed her MD and MPH degrees at Northwestern University, as a member of the Honors Program in Medical Education. She then completed her residency in General Internal Medicine at the Johns Hopkins Bayview Campus. Following a year of locum tenens and coursework in medical management at the University of North Carolina in the Kron Scholars program, she returned to Johns Hopkins University for a fellowship in Geriatrics and Gerontology. She then became a faculty member there for 5 years, prior to her move to Rochester.

Dr. Friedman's research interests involve both clinical and health services research. She was the recipient of an American Geriatrics Society / Pfizer Postdoctoral Fellowship to investigate predictive models of falling in a community-based population. She currently spends the majority of her time on an NIA-funded Career Development Award, investigating different models of long-term care.
