Carol Podgorski, M.S., Ph.D

Carol Podgorski is a medical sociologist with a master's degree in community health. She has worked in the field of aging at the University of Rochester for over 20 years. She is currently the Executive Director of the Center for Lifetime Wellness at Monroe Community Hospital, a health promotion program for community dwelling adults over the age of 50, and for adults of any age with any special health concerns. She also serves as the Director of the Healthy Living Program, a faith-based health promotion/physical activity in African American churches, and as the Director of the Finger Lakes Alzheimer's Disease Assistance Center, a New York State-funded program that serves 11 counties. Her research interests include the role of family relationships in senior wellness, professional development of medical specialties, and the role of health beliefs and perceptions on provider practices and consumer health behavior. She has also had extensive experience in developing and evaluating programs for older adults. She currently serves as Chair of the Healthy Living Partnership for Monroe County's HEALTH ACTION initiative, as Chair of the Episcopal Church Home Board of Directors, as a member of the Monroe County Executive's Council of Elders, as a member of the Monroe County Board of Health, and as an Honorary Member of the Board of Directors of the Alzheimer's Association-Rochester Chapter.
