Biotechnology

American Type Culture Collection. It seems a little odd to be adding viruses and bacteria to your shopping cart, but this site very clearly and attractively presents information about products and services.

BEI Resources is an offshoot of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) that supplies researchers with materials and information related to biodefense and emerging diseases.

LabVelocity provides a searchable database for lab products and protocals, focused on cell and molecular biology research.

Lab Vision Corporation. Antibodies and immunohistochemistry equipment.

Molecular Probes offers kits and reagents for fluorescence technology. Their 24 chapter Handbook of Fluorescent Probes and Research Chemicals contains full background and technical information.

Exchanges

MedPlanet. Exchange for medical and surgical equipment and hospital products.

Sci-Bay.com buys used and sells warrantied reconditioned equipment. Parent company Phoenix Equipment offers service contracts and factory-authorized repair services for a variety of laboratory instruments.

Beckman Coulter includes detailed product descriptions and background.

Roche Diagnostics. Multiple products in all major lab areas, for research as well as clinical diagnostic use. Includess a Health Kiosk for the general public.

American Master*Tech Scientific Incorporated. Information and supplies for the histology lab. When you get to "Literature", scroll down past the excellent MSDS list to find a number of interesting articles.

Amersham Biosciences. Products for autoradiography, drug screening, molecular genetics, and proteomics, among others. Acquired by GE Healthcare.

BD Biosciences. Products for cell culture, immunocytochemistry, flow cytometry, molecular diagnostics, data management, and other lab areas.

Energy Beam Sciences is a manufacturer and distributor of instruments and accessories for electron microscopy, light microscopy, and histology.

Merck (English language home page). Information on company activity as well as products.

Millipore has products for the life sciences, biotechnology and pharmaceuticals, and water filtration. Also a nice online technical library for each class of products (look under "Applications") with literature, user guides, bibliographies, MSDS's and FAQ's.

Nanoprobes, Inc. sells products for gold cluster labelling. Their site offers detailed instructions and tips and tricks for their use.

PerkinElmer Life Sciences. Major vendor with products in many lab areas.

Photodyne Technologies. Automated macro photography systems.

VWR Scientific Products. Extensive catalog with products from many manufacturers.

Applied Maths. Software for the biosciences, particularly the integrated
analysis and databasing of 1D and 2D gels, sequences, chromosomes, and microarrays.

InforMax is the home of Invitrogen life sciences software.

LABCAT is "a suite of separate but integrated software modules designed for the collection, analysis and reporting of data during the pre-clinical phases of pharmaceutical, agrochemical, and biotech product development".

LifeArt sells LifeArt and MediClip collections of medical illustrations for Mac or PC.

MedCalc is a Windows package specificially designed for biomedical statistics including ROC curves for test evaluation. Downloadable demo.

Partek. Pattern recognition software for science and engineering.

Free image capture and analysis software from Scion Corporation (click "Software" to get to the right frame).

SigmaScanPro is image-analysis software for PCs, offering a library of more than 50 measurement options to convert images into analytical data. A product of SPSS.

Statistical and data analysis software (Kovach Computing Services). This vendor provides some background on the packages, offers shareware and freeware as well, and many links to statistics sites.

TissueInformatics provides tissue analysis software packages for the data management, processing and automated quantitative analysis of histological slides.

University of Bergen, Norway. Article and downloadable software for clinicians interested in doing sequential study statistics.
