Nobel Laureate Visits Rochester for Genetics Day 2014

The 26th Annual Genetics Day 2014, held recently at the university campus had an extra special keynote lecture by one of the latest Nobel Laureates. Additionally, there were research talks by faculty members and posters by students and trainees.  The afternoon saw a special session of remembering longtime University faculty member and legendary geneticist Fred Sherman.

Pushing Personalized Therapy for Lung Cancer

Personalized medicine – or matching a patient’s tumor with an appropriate treatment – is transforming lung cancer and bringing a measure of hope to patients, according to a review by Eric S. Kim, M.D., and Kishan J. Pandya, M.D., of the James P. Wilmot Cancer Center, published in the journal Expert Opinion on Medical Diagnostics.

Cardiovascular Research Institute Hosts International Conference on Gene Expression

Researchers from URMC’s Aab Cardiovascular Research Institute (CVRI) are hosting the International MADS Box Conference, a two-day meeting of world-renowned experts who will share their latest research related to MADS Box proteins, which control gene expression in virtually all cell types of complex life forms.
