Shelley graduated from RIT in 1994 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biotechnology.
She began working for Lederle-Praxis Biologicals in September of 1992 in the Hybridoma Group where she obtained her first taste for sterile technique work.
Her main focus was producing monoclonal antibodies in support of vaccine research.
In 1994, Shelley was hired as a permanent employee at Wyeth (formally Lederle-Praxis) in the Preclinical Department of Immunobiological Services.
For the next 10 years Shelley dealt with a variety of bacterial and viral vaccine programs developing, validating and performing ELISAs and bioassays in support of pre-clinical research and development.
In an effort to upgrade laboratory operations to a GLP standards environment, Shelley wrote and executed validation protocols for a variety of equipment though out the laboratory.
In addition, Shelley has experience with all aspects of assay method qualifications.
In an effort to increase data output for preclinical samples, Shelley was responsible for the procurement, set up and qualification of 4 new ELISA robotics units for the Wyeth laboratory following GLP guidelines.
Shelley joined the Human Immunology Center Core laboratory as a technical associate II in February of 2005 where her first assignment was to train on the ELISPOT in an effort to offer it as a service of the HIC lab.
She has received training and is a BD certified LSR II flow cytometer operator. Her previous experience with validation and qualification of assays is an asset to the HIC core laboratory.
