The Memory Care Program physicians are psychiatrists and neurologists affiliated with the University of Rochester Medical Center and have a variety of interests and specialties in the field. For more information about the doctors at the clinic, visit our physicians page.

Our Patients

Our physicians have extensive experience in evaluating and treating patients with:

  • Alzheimer's disease
  • Mild memory problems
  • Behavioral symptoms or psychosis associated with dementia

Our Services

At the Memory Care Program, a clinic physician, either a geriatric psychiatrist or neurologist, evaluates each patient placing a special emphasis on memory changes. The evaluation includes reviewing the medical history and currently prescribed medications, and discussing specific memory concerns with the patient and their family member. It is important for a family member to accompany the patient to the visit so that the physician can obtain accurate information.

The physician will then complete a physical and neurological examination, as well as brief memory testing.

Once the doctor makes the diagnosis, the clinic physician will share the results of the evaluation and testing with the patient, the patient’s family and the patient’s primary care doctor. The doctor may make treatment recommendations and discuss appropriate community resources with the family. This may include involvement in research programs that evaluate potential new medications or treatments for memory loss.

We accept all major insurance plans at the clinic. A referral from the primary care physician may be required.
