The Alzheimer’s Project – Presented by HBO and NIA—In 2009, the National Institute on Aging partnered with HBO to create a documentary on Alzheimer's disease. The documentary series and corresponding website explore current research in the science of Alzheimer's disease, and also examine many of the challenges Alzheimer's brings to patients, caregivers and the community as a whole.
Geriatric Mental Health Foundation (GMHF)—The GMHF was developed by the American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry to promote a better understanding of mental health concerns among the elderly. Their website provides information on a variety of topics, including Alzheimer's disease, anxiety, depression, and health aging.
Alzheimer’s Association – Rochester Chapter—The Rochester, NY Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association provides resources and services specific to the greater Rochester community and surrounding counties. Their website offers information about Alzheimer’s and coping with the disease; and presents information regarding support for patient care and caregivers, educational programs, and opportunities for advocacy and volunteering.
Alzheimer's Association TrialMatch—This website offers a free service to help people with Alzheimer's disease, family members, healthy volunteers, and physicians locate clinical trials based on personal criteria (diagnosis, stage of disease) and location. The Alzheimer's Association TrialMatch lets you search numerous trials quickly and easily, helping to narrow results to studies in which there is a reasonable chance of meeting criteria for enrollment.
Alzheimer’s and Dementia Program and Alzheimer’s / Dementia Outreach Program (ADOP)—Unity Health System is a health care network that serves the city of Rochester and western Monroe County. Several programs, including the Alzheimer’s and Dementia Day Services Program and the Alzheimer’s / Dementia Outreach Program are available to members of the community affected by dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.
Alzheimer's Disease Education and Referral (ADEAR) Center—The ADEAR website offers up-to-date information and resources pertaining to Alzheimer’s disease provided by the National Institute on Aging (NIA). The NIA is an institute of the NIH, a U.S. federal government agency that provides accurate, current information about all aspects of aging research, information about clinical trials, educational materials and resources about aging for the general public, and information for researchers and health professionals.
Family Caregiver Alliance (FCA)—The FCA is a national center on caregiving that offers support to families that care for loved ones with chronic, disabling health conditions. Support is provided for caregivers through education, services, research and advocacy programs. Online resources include discussion groups, online workshops, and collections of fact sheets and other publications.
Alzheimer’s Disease Cooperative Study (ADCS)—This page provides an overview of the ADCS, a collaborative effort developed by the National Institute of Aging and the University of California San Diego to investigate the potential usefulness of drugs not developed by industry for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease. Descriptions of past and present studies conducted by the ADCS are available on this site.
Alzheimer’s Association – National Site—This site contains information and resources provided by the Alzheimer’s Association, the most prominent voluntary health organization in Alzheimer’s care, research, and support. Patients and caregivers are also welcomed to contact the 24/7 Helpline number at 1-800-272-3900.
ClinicalTrials.gov—This site provides patients, family members, and members of the public easy and free access to information on clinical studies for a wide range of diseases and conditions. Studies included in this collection may be federally or privately supported, and involve clinical research in human participants.
ResearchMatch—ResearchMatch is a service sponsored by the National Institutes of Health that provides a registry for people interested in research. The registry helps match individuals that are interested in participating in research studies to researchers that are conducting relavant studies. Registration if free and secure.
