The University of Rochester invites applications for a senior level faculty position in the Department of Biomedical Engineering in the Hajim School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. Applicants must be established investigators with outstanding accomplishments in Biomedical Engineering (BME) with qualifications for appointment as Associate or full Professor. Preference will be given to applicants whose research interests lie in the area of Biomedical Optics. The successful candidate is expected to provide leadership as an independent, extramurally funded investigator and to participate in departmental teaching programs. The University of Rochester is embarking on a new strategic plan with targeted growth in areas related to biomedical optics, biomedical imaging, and nanomedicine.
The new BME building is co-located and shared with the internationally-renowned Institute of Optics, which includes biomedical optics research groups in the areas of retinal imaging, biomedical microscopy, biospectroscopy, and photodynamic therapy. The BME building is a short walk from the University of Rochester Medical Center, one of the original recipients of an NIH award ($40M) to establish a Clinical and Translational Science Institute. Thus we offer an exceptionally rich environment for both clinical and basic science collaboration. Review of candidates will continue until the position is filled.
