Specialized Facilities Take a Tour If at all possible, it's a good idea to also schedule a tour of the care centers you’re considering. Ask questions about available technology but also run down the following list of questions that cover the basics of care: Is the facility clean? Are waiting rooms and patient care rooms comfortable and well maintained? Do they provide private dressing rooms and waiting areas so patients in hospital gowns don’t have to sit with fully dressed patients? Are the treatment areas comfortable? Is the environment relatively quiet? Is the atmosphere frightening or comforting? Are there extra chairs for family and friends? Is there a special area for children with a television, games and toys? Is there a resource center? Since people learn best when they receive information more than one way, check to see if the center has a variety of books, videos, Internet access and a people to help you research medical literature.
