Dr. Singer is a urology resident at the University of Rochester Medical Center in Rochester, New York. His main academic interests are urologic oncology and bioethics. In addition to completing his surgical training, Dr. Singer is a member of the ethics committees of the University of Rochester Medical Center and the Medical Society of the State of New York. He is currently serving as a Fellow in the Center for Ethics, Medical Humanities and Palliative Care with an appointment as Instructor of Medical Humanities in the School of Medicine and Dentistry.
Dr. Singer is a cum laude graduate of Boston College, where he studied biology and his interest in bioethics originated. He completed his medical studies at Georgetown University where he participated in the Honors Research Track and spent one year performing research at the Center for Clinical Bioethics and working with the Ethics Consult Service. During that time Dr. Singer also obtained a master’s degree in ethics under the mentorship of Dr. Edmund Pellegrino. Areas of ethics that interest him include the dynamics of the physician-patient relationship, surgical ethics, and how medical students and residents are taught professionalism
