Antepartum/Postpartum Course
Peri-FACTS's Antepartum/Postpartum Course is a variation of the Obstetric and Fetal Monitoring Course. It presents the same monthly learning materials (two articles, two clinical case studies, and two educational videos), however, the clinical case study contains questions that pertain to the corresponding article only. No fetal heart rate monitoring interpretation questions are included. Click here to enroll now.
-
The Antepartum/Postpartum Course is based on a 12-month curriculum. Each month, obstetric nurse specialists and perinatologists at the University of Rochester Medical Center and a broad range of medical specialists who, in addition to their clinical duties, prepare and distribute the following:
-
Two articles devoted to a major obstetric topic
-
Two educational Peri-FACTS Videos
-
Two clinical case studies that relate to the obstetric articles
-
One web-casted grand rounds lecture
-
Access to the Gynecology Course
-
This course is offered exclusively online and is available anywhere Internet access is available.
-
Nurse participants have the opportunity to complete 24 clinical case studies each year. An average of 1 nursing contact hours is awarded upon successful completion of each article and its related clinical case study in the Antepartum/Postpartum Course. An average of 1 nursing contact hours is awarded upon successful completion of each Gynecology Course module (article and review test).
-
Physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and midwives can earn up to 30 AMA PRA Category 1 credits per year for the Antepartum/Postpartum Course, and they can earn up to 24 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits per year for the Gynecology Course.
-
Clinically relevant articles and case studies, prepared by a broad range of experts, are posted on the first day of every month.
-
Participants read the articles and complete their tests and evaluations online. All test questions are in a multiple choice, true/false, multiple-answer, or matching format. Tests are corrected automatically and they receive immediate feedback on their test results.
-
The Peri-FACTS Videos present short, educational videos that focus on fetal heart rate monitor interpretation, general obstetric, patient safety, and disease-related topics.
-
The University of Rochester's web-casted grand rounds are presented every month on topics pertaining to obstetrics, gynecology, endocrinology, oncology, and urogynecology.
-
Yearly group subscription rates, for five or more participants, are only $92.00 per nurse; $120.00 per physician assistant, nurse practitioner or midwife; and $150.00 per physician.
-
Yearly individual subscription rates are only $206.00 per nurse; $297.00 per physician assistant, nurse practitioner or midwife; and $366.00 per physician.
-
Each individual or group that enrolls receives a start-up package that includes a set of our reference textbooks, a Subscribers' Manual, and an in-service CD (all included in the $150.00 one-time only start-up fee). Additional textbooks can be purchased online via the Peri-FACTS Store.
-
Each participating agency chooses their own on-site Peri-FACTS Coordinator. We recommend that you select someone who demonstrates leadership qualities and who has an established positive rapport with the obstetric staff. The individual selected to be the Peri-FACTS Coordinator at each site is extremely important to the success of the program, for this person will act as a resource for the staff and be the liaison between your organization and Peri-FACTS.
