Our Pediatric Critical Care facilities are staffed, equipped, and designed to provide the highest level of treatment possible ranging from close monitoring to advanced life support.
Technology plays a key role in getting the best outcomes for our critically ill or injured patients. This technology allows our Pediatric Critical Care faculty to provide therapies designed for:
Control of intracranial pressure
Specialized head and spinal cord injury management
Deep and conscious sedation for painful diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for children throughout the hospital
Placement of peripherally inserted central catheters (PIC lines) in infants and young children
Emergency Care Versus Critical Care
Emergency departments treat patients who suffer from a broad range of problems from the relatively minor to those that are life-threatening. Emergency Department physicians stabilize gravely ill or injured patients and transport them to the Critical Care Unit for further treatment and long-term management.
