Miracle Makers: News10NBC

Outstanding Commitment by a CMNH Sponsor

For the last 30 years, children and families touched by Golisano Children’s Hospital have come together to share their extraordinary stories at the annual Children’s Miracle Network Hospital’s (CMNH) Telethon. The event would not be a success without the dedication and support of its incredible host, News10NBC. The dynamic news team has committed countless hours to making a difference in the lives of pediatric patients, while broadcasting inspiring stories of hope and healing throughout the community, earning them one of this year’s Miracle Maker awards.

News10NBC is Rochester's NBC affiliate in the 78th ranked market, serving more than 475,000 viewing households with award winning newscasts and popular programming.

Many members of the news team have become integral parts of Telethon – and the Golisano Children’s Hospital family over the years. Recently retired Rich Funke, along with Janet Lomax, Robin Dewind, Brett Davidsen, and Lia Lando are some of the newscasters that have dedicated their time to sharing patient stories with the community. The station’s Gordon Smith, has also been committed to the Miracle Weekend event, serving as producer for the last 30 years.

What started out as a 21-hour-telethon back in 1984 continues to capture audiences and has been transformed into a more streamlined event that combines the CMNH national segments with our local stories.

Children's Miracle Network Hospital's Telethon“We are proud to collaborate with such a world-class organization that we are blessed to have right in our community,” said Derek Dalton, vice president and general manager at News10NBC. “News10NBC is thrilled to be a partner in Golisano Children’s Hospital’s journey and share its mission of serving our community, especially its youth.”

The Telethon’s 30th anniversary celebration will take place on June 2. Community members can tune-in to News10NBC for live broadcasts of inspiring stories from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and again from 6:30 p.m. to 11 p.m.

For the past three decades, News10NBC anchors have taken the time to get to know community supporters, CMNH donors, patient families, and Miracle Kid award winners, making their telethon experiences personal, and engaging, for viewers.

“While the event helps raise awareness and funds, it also gives us the opportunity to recognize the generosity of our CMNH and community partners, who work hard all year long to raise much needed finances that further the priority projects of the children’s hospital,” said Betsy Findlay, director of special events and Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

Children's Miracle Network Hospitals is an international non-profit organization dedicated to helping children by raising funds and awareness for 170 children's hospitals throughout North America, including Golisano Children’s Hospital. Each year, these non-profit hospitals treat more than 17 million children afflicted with disease, injuries, and birth defects of every kind.

Golisano Children’s Hospital is honored to recognize News10NBC as this year’s award winners for Outstanding Commitment by a CMNH sponsor.
