Annual Golisano Children's Hospital Golf Classic
Although rain showers may have dampened golfers at this year's Golf Classic, held on Aug. 26, it certainly didn't hinder their spirits. Golisano Children's Hospital supporters gathered across three courses for one purpose - to raise money for the Finger Lakes region's only children's hospital. Held at the Monroe Country Club, the Country Club of Rochester, and the Oak Hill Country Club on the West Course, this year's sold-out Golf Classic brought over 350 golfers and raised $300,000 (net).
2013 Miracle Kid Courtney Wagner and her family made a special appearance at this year’s event.
Courtney was diagnosed with an inoperable stage 4 Glioblastoma tumor just before the start of her freshman year of high school. A second tumor was discovered as well, a stage 1 cancer called Astrocytoma, which fortunately, could be removed.
Courtney has a reputation of being the most active kid on chemo that Golisano Children’s Hospital has ever seen, as she continued to play basketball and soccer throughout treatment.
