These courses meet the standards of the American Heart Association for the training of providers in ACLS. The goal of these sessions is to integrate knowledge and motor skills into a clinically useful discipline. The courses are designed to develop skills and proficiency in the techniques of Emergency Cardiovascular Care. They are geared toward physicians, nurses, emergency medical technicians, and other healthcare providers.

The American College of Surgeons' Advanced Trauma Life Support Provider Course offers physicians an intensive education in the management of severely injured patients. Open to all physicians, these courses provide a structure which the participant will learn to identify injuries associated with major trauma as well as the management skills required for proper early resuscitation and treatment of injured patients. These courses meet the standards of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Heart Association for the training of providers in PALS. The Provider Course is valid for two years. The Re-Training Course should be taken every two years to maintain a current PALS Provider Course Completion Card. Courses will have a minimum and maximum registration level.

PEDIATRIC EMERGENCY ASSESSMENT, RECOGNITION, AND STABILIZATION

The audience for this course is any healthcare provider who might encounter pediatric patients in their profession. Pediatric, Emergency, Assessment,
Recognition and Stabilization (PEARS) is a new intermediate course for credentialed healthcare providers who infrequently see critically ill children. The main focus of PEARS is prevention, and specifically the assessment, recognition and stabilization of pediatric victims at risk of severe cardiopulmonary distress. Course content covers pediatric assessment, recognition and management of respiratory distress and failure, recognition and management of shock, respiratory and circulatory management, resuscitation team concept and Chain of Survival. It is not intended for those staff credentialed for advanced pediatric skills that routinely provide pediatric care.
