ASSESSING & MANAGING SUICIDE RISK
January, 2009 - December, 2009
Jointly sponsored with the Suicide Resource Center, EDC, the focus of the Assessing and Managing Suicide Risk course is on attitudes and knowledge necessary to enhance skill in working with individuals at risk for suicide. In addition, some time is spent on skill development, for example practicing how to ask someone if they are thinking about suicide and formulating risk based on a clinical interview shown in 3 video clips.

HOSPITAL MEDICINE FACULTY DEVELOPMENT SERIES
October 2008 - December 2009
The target audience is the Hospital Medicine Division faculty, the majority of whom started practicing within the past 5 years. Their practice involves educating residents and students while caring for medically complex inpatients. Early career faculty have little guidance on how to teach effectively in this setting and how to develop their academic and clinical careers. Members of the Hospital Medicine Division were surveyed and asked to indicate their interest and needs in learning about various faculty depvelpment topics. This series is designed to provide them with the skills to do both. Faculty are encouraged to also participate in the school-wide UR faculty development series; our program is designed to dovetail with this program.
