Infection Control

The University of Rochester, in collaboration with other teaching hospitals in the community, has developed a syllabus and self-study program with a post-test component, which has met the Dept. of Health and State Education Department requirements. New York State Certification provided upon completion.

How does it work?
Download the form from our website, print it, fill it out and mail/fax/or drop it off with your payment. Upon receipt, we will mail the packet that includes the study materials and test. Once the test is completed, mail the original yellow answer key back to the CPE office. The tests will be graded and upon passing, a certificate of completion will be mailed to you.

Where will my certificate be mailed to?
Your certificate will be mailed to whatever address you list on your answer key.

Is the test available online?
No, it is only available in hard copy- using the process described above.

How long does it typically take?
Once the test answer key is received in the CPE office, it is usually about a 2 week turnaround time before you receive your certificate in the mail.

How much does it cost?
The cost for employees at the UofR/Strong is $18.50. The fee for everyone else is $28.50.

How can I pay?
You can pay using check, credit card, or cash.

I don’t want to mail or fax my credit card number, what are my additional options?
You can drop it off at the CPE office in person. Or you can fax the completed, signed form to us, and then call us with your credit card number afterwards.

How often do I need to take the test?
It expires after 4 years from the month that you took it last.

How do I find out when my infection control certification expires?
You can call the CPE office at 275-4392. We suggest that you put a reminder on your personal calendar, computer schedule or palm pilot to remind you when it expires.

I took the infection control test through another institution; do you have a record of that?
No, we only keep track of the tests taken through our office.
