Research:
Primary and secondary prevention of coronary heart disease
through the identification and modification of coronary risk
factors. Special interest in community outreach and intervention
programs. Active as a sub-investigator on numerous clinical
trials dealing with hyperlipidemia.

OVERVIEW
|
| Laurie Kopin is the Senior Nurse Manager and Nurse Practitioner
for the Strong Heart Program at the Univeristy of Rochester
Medical Center. The center offers both cardiac rehabilitation
and preventive cardiology services for over 800 patients weekly
and is one of the largest programs in the nation. Of special
interest to Ms. Kopin is the development of the preventive cardiology
program that offers a fully comprehensive lipid disorder and
hypertension clinic. Numerous clinical trials are conducted
at the Strong Heart Program where she serves as the sub-investigator.
Ms. Kopin is also an Assistant Professor of Nursing at the
University of Rochester School of Nursing and teaches a graduate
level nursing course entitled, "Preventive Healthcare/Wellness".
She is a collaborating faculty member on the NHLBI Nutrition
Academic Award that was the driving force behind the development
and implementation of this preventive medicine course.
