Division of Social and Behavioral Medicine
Mission Statement
The mission of the Division of Social and Behavioral Medicine (SBM)
is to promote the public health through:
Inter/transdisciplinary focus on 1) the application of behavioral
and social science approaches to the prevention, treatment, and
management of physical disease and illness; and 2) the identification
of relationships among behavioral, social, and biological factors
in health
Supporting a range of research methodologies including basic,
applied intervention, and translational social and behavioral medicine
research
Targeting individual, community, and societal levels with this
range of methodologies
Addressing special population needs
Fostering collaboration, education, and mentoring of investigators
Fostering education and mentoring of students
Providing community education and outreach
