Graduate Certificate in Maternal and Child Health Epidemiology

Courses

Graduate courses: per credit process through DCPM/URMC Workshops: Continuing education credits will be provided for nurses and physicians

  1. Required courses

    Enrollees will be required to complete a total of six courses available through the MPH program. Two courses are required for all participants:

    1. Analytic Methods in Maternal and Child Health and
    2. Child and Adolescent Health Epidemiology

    The remaining four courses are electives may be drawn from a predefined list of methodological and topical electives. Two methodological electives are required. Participants would select from each of these groups.

    Potential electives are as follows:

    Topical Electives Methodological Electives
    Nutritional Epidemiology  
    Women's Health Epidemiology/Gender and Health Global Health Informatics
    Infectious Disease Epidemiology Qualitative Methods
    Molecular/Genetic Epidemiology Survey Research

  2. Mentored Research Project

    This project serves to integrate the knowledge and skills acquired through the certificate's courses and workshops. The MPH thesis or MPH-CI research projects serve to meet this requirement. The research proposal must have relevance to MCH and be approved by the Graduate Certificate Coordinator. It is strongly recommended that an MCH faculty member from the Department be on the student's committee.
