Master of Public Health : Dual Masters Programs

Combined MBA / MPH Program

The Masters in Public Health / Masters in Business Administration program is a jointly offered program by the Department of Community and Preventive Medicine in the School of Medicine and Dentistry and the William B. Simon Graduate School of Business Administration.

There are several options for completing the dual Masters in Public Health/Masters in Business Administration degree programs. Ordinarily each program is two years full-time. Typically the combined program can be completed in three years.

Most students start the combined program as full-time students concentrating on either the MPH or the MBA requirements. This allows students to complete the core courses for either the MPH or the MBA in Year 1. Year 2 in the combined program is spent taking the core courses for the program not done in Year 1. Year 3 is spent taking a combination of courses. Some MPH courses count as electives for the MBA, and some MBA courses count as electives for the MPH. Students also work on the MPH masteršs essay.

If students elect to begin with the MBA year, the statistics courses required by the Simon School will substitute for the MPH ones (but the MPH core statistics courses will not substitute for the MBA requirements).

Separate applications must be completed for each program. Applicants must submit GRE scores for the MPH application. Once an application is accepted, it will be necessary, if the student elects to start in the MPH program, to request that admission to the MBA program be deferred for 1 year and vice versa.
