The Preventive Medicine ResidencyRequired Applicant QualificationsThe qualified applicant should have, at a minimum: an MD or equivalent degree from a fully accredited school of medicine; at least one year of clinical training in an ACGME-approved residency program with a majority of the clinical activity conducted in direct patient care settings; and a valid New York State medical license, or the ability to obtain a New York State medical license prior to the start of the Practicum Year. In addition, applicants seeking only a one-year Practicum Phase experience must have completed an MPH (or equivalent) degree prior to matriculation into the program. Perhaps most importantly, the Department seeks individuals with the potential to become leaders in the field of preventive medicine and public health, as well as a demonstrated interest in service to underserved populations. The Department of Community and Preventive Medicine strongly encourages applications from individuals from traditionally under-represented populations. CompensationGeneral Preventive Medicine Residents will receive an educational grant to cover the cost of the MPH tuition, a training stipend commensurate with PGY-2 and PGY-3 training, and the usual and customary health and dental benefits afforded residents at the University of Rochester Medical Center.
