Alzheimer's Disease Research Centers (P50)

The National Institute on Aging (NIA) invites applications from qualified institutions interested in operating Alzheimer's Disease Research Centers (ADRCs). These centers are designed to:

  • support and conduct research on Alzheimer's disease (AD);
  • serve as shared research resources that will facilitate research in AD and related disorders, distinguishing them from the processes of normal brain aging and mild cognitive impairment (MCI);
  • provide a platform for training;
  • collect biospecimens useful for clinical research;
  • develop novel techniques and methodologies; and
  • translate research findings into better diagnostic, prevention, treatment, and care strategies.

This is a limited submission opportunity; the University may submit only one (1) grant application.

Interested faculty at the Medical Center must submit an abstract, CV, and budget to Dean Puzas via Catherine Muzytchuk (Catherine_muzytchuk@urmc.rochester.edu), using the words “Alzheimer’s Disease” in the subject line.

The deadline for submission to the Deans is March 18, 2013. The Deans will decide which submission will move forward to the NIA by March 25, 2013.

The optional Letter of Intent is due May 10, 2013. The full proposal is due June 11, 2013. It is important to remember that ORPA must receive electronic proposals five (5) business days prior to the sponsor’s deadline, along with a completed and signed University sign-off form.
