American Society of Hematologists Scholar Awards

Fellow Scholar Awards & Junior Faculty Scholar Awards

The American Society of Hematologists Scholar Awards are designed to support hematologists who have chosen a career in research. The awards provide partial salary or other support during that critical period required for completion of training and achievement of status as an independent investigator. This is a limited submission opportunity; the University may submit only one (1) grant application for each award.

Interested faculty at the Medical Center must submit an abstract, CV, and budget to Dean Puzas via Catherine Muzytchuk (Catherine_muzytchuk@urmc.rochester.edu) by April 15, 2013. Please use the words “ASH Scholar” in the subject line.

The Deans will decide which submission will go forward by April 22, 2013.

ASH requires applicants to submit a Letter of Intent (LOI) in order to be eligible to submit a full proposal. The LOI should include:

  • Letter of Intent form;
  • Abstract of proposed project (please do not exceed 350 words); and
  • Applicant's curriculum vitae.

ASH will perform a preliminary review of these materials to confirm eligibility and the appropriateness of the research category to which the applicant has applied. If additional information is required, ASH staff will contact the applicant prior to June.The required LOI is due May 1, 2013. On June 3, 2013, the application will be made available for those who have successfully submitted a LOI. It is important to remember that ORPA must receive electronic proposals five (5) business days prior to the sponsor’s deadline, along with a completed and signed University sign-off form. The complete program solicitation can be found here.
