Burroughs Wellcome Fund Underrepresented Minority (URM) Postdoctoral Enrichment Program

The URM program provides a total of $50,000 over three years to su;pport the development of a URM postdoctoral fellow in a degree-granting institution or its affiliated graduate and medical schools, hospitals , and research institutions. Individual URM postdoctoral fellows conducting biomedical or medical research are eligible to apply.

This award cannot be used to provide for the postdoctoral fellow’s salary or to purchase reagents or equipment commonly found in the mentor’s lab. During Year I and Year II, $20,000 per year will be used to support enrichment activities of the postdoctoral fellow ($10,000 for research supplies or equipment uniquely required to enhance the postdoctoral fellow’s research and $10,000 for education and training). In Year III, $10,000 will be grant for enrichment activities. A qualified mentor is required.

Open Competition: There is no limitation on the number of applicants from the same institution.

Eligibility: Postdoctoral Ph.D. or M.D. fellows. Applicants must be underrepresented minorities (i.e. American Indian, Alaska Native, Black or African American, Hispanic, or Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander) and must be a citizen of the United States or Canada.
