Request for Proposals for

Pilot and Collaborative Studies in Cancer Research

 

The James P. Wilmot Cancer Center is soliciting applications for grants focusing on Cancer Research.  This RFP is designated to support three separate individual or collaborative research projects in the area of basic, translational, behavioral or epidemiological cancer research.

The implicit goal of these awards is to support the development of new research projects to reach competitiveness for federal funding. Collaborations are strongly encouraged.

Awards will be based on scientific merit and innovation.

Up to $50,000 of funding may be requested for one year.  Principle investigators may only hold a single pilot grant award at any given time.

Proposal:   

This is a stream-lined process.  Proposals should use Arial font and a font size of 11 point, 1-inch margins, single-spaced type and consist of:

  • Lay Abstract
  • Proposed Research - 3-page maximum (Abstract, Hypothesis, Specific Aims, Background and Significance, and Plan of Research)
  • Biosketch (NIH format) for Key Personnel
  • Other Support
  • Budget
    • Funding cannot be used to support faculty salary.

The proposal does not need to be routed internally

Submission Timeline:

Applications will be due May 1, 2013 with an anticipated July 1, 2013 start date for funding.  Applications should be submitted electronically to Brian Martin, Associate Director for Administration, James P. Wilmot Cancer Center. Brian_Martin@URMC.Rochester.edu
