Upstate New York Translational Research Network

UNYTRN MapThe Upstate New York Translational Research Network, a part of the University of Rochester's Clinical and Translational Science Institute, will serve as a national model of research collaboration.   Thirteen of the region’s premier biomedical research institutions have joined together to create a network for clinical and translational science.  The Foundation for Healthy Living (FHL) serves as convener, organizer and administrator of UNYTRN.  FHL is an independent 501(c)3 health services and research organization based in Buffalo and Latham, NY.

Network members will have access to the resources of the Institute for translational research studies and clinical trials.  An inventory of translational research at the member institutions, and research resources and methodologies accessible for collaborative research by faculty and trainees will be available to investigators at member institutions. Members of the Network will provide assistance with regulatory compliance, including training programs on regulatory issues to assist investigators in the preparation and submission of regulatory documents, and support for Institutional Review Boards, including education and certification of clinical investigators on the ethical conduct of research. The Network also will coordinate regional marketing, recruitment, and retention of study subjects.

The UNYTRN Pilot Research Collaboratives Program is a joint funding initiative of the Rochester CTSI and the Foundation for Healthy Living.  The goal of the Pilot Research Collaboratives Program is to catalyze the formation of multi-disciplinary research teams involving two or more Network institutions that are focused on a critical issue in health or health services research.

In addition to the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, the members include:
