NIH/NIDCR Director's Early Independence Awards (DP5)

NIDCR/NIH/DHHS invites applications for the NIH Director’s Early Independence Award Program. The award supports exceptional investigators who wish to pursue independent research directly after completion of their terminal doctoral/research degree or clinical residency, thereby foregoing the traditional post-doctoral training period. This FOA will utilize the NIH DP5 Early Independence Award/Cooperative Agreement award mechanism.

This is a limited submission program. The University may submit up to two (2) grant applications under this announcement. Interested faculty members must submit an abstract, CV, and budget to Dr. Edward Puzas, Senior Associate Dean for Basic Science Research  (Catherine_muzytchuk@urmc.rochester.edu) using the words ”Early Independence” in the subject line by November 28, 2011. The Deans will choose a candidate by December 9, 2011.

The complete program solicitation can be found here. The full proposal is due January 30, 2012. It is important to remember that ORPA must receive electronic proposals five (5) business days prior to the sponsor’s deadline along with a completed and signed University Sign-off form
