CTSI Pilot Funding Awards

CRC Pilot Research Awards

The purpose of the CRC Pilot Research Awards program is to support clinical research among junior faculty (ranks equal or less than assistant professor) who have not yet established independent NIH or comparable funding. The program will provide funding for research projects of up to $20,000 per year for one year with the potential to apply for a second year of funding of up to $20,000. The goal of this program is to develop clinical investigators who will successfully compete for NIH or comparable support and continue to pursue a clinical research-based academic career.

Laboratory Support Funding

The University of Rochester Clinical and Translational Science Institute’s Laboratory Support Center is pleased to announce the availability of laboratory cost support for clinical and translational research projects.  We plan to provide up to $50,000 for laboratory costs for pilot data, supporting data, or data needed to complete an initial study.

Novel Clinical & Translational Methodologies

The overall goal of the NCTMC is to help overcome specifically identified limitations at either the discovery or implementation step by developing widely applicable methodologies that will significantly enhance the validity and accuracy, scope, or speed of translational research.

Pilot and Collaborative Clinical & Translational Studies

The overall goal of the CTSI Pilot and Collaborative Clinical and Translational Studies Program is to provide research support for preliminary and proof-of-concept studies critical to moving basic laboratory findings into clinical applications.

Upstate New York Translational Research Network Pilot Program

The objective of the program is to catalyze the formation of multi-institutional, cross-disciplinary research teams that are focused on a critical issue in biomedical, clinical, and / or translation al research. To receive funding applicants must show meaningful involvement of faculty and facilities from at least two UNYCHRQ / UNYTRN member institutions.

CTSI Training and Career Development Programs

CTSI KL2 Mentored Career Development Program

The CTSI’s Mentored Career Development program offers generous support for new investigators interested in a career in clinical or translational research. The goal is for the trainee to emerge as an independently funded investigator at the completion of the award. The award provides 3 to 5 years of career development support.

CTSI TL1 Predoctoral Training Programs

CTSI Year-Out Program

The CTSI supports medical students interested in a year-out experience of mentored research in clinical or translational research. Students who are selected as CTSI scholars receive stipend support. Further, the student's mentor receives funds to help support research activities. Students who are interested in pursuing a Master's degree during the year-out are encouraged to do so.

CTSI MSTP Program

This program allows students interested in careers in medical science to undertake doctoral-level training in both clinical medicine and research. Students earn both an MD and a PhD. Rochester’s MSTP provides an outstanding faculty and a wide diversity of research training opportunities found only in our nation's leading biomedical research and clinical training centers.
