Support for Molecular Biology Analytics

Managed as a service of the CTSI Research Navigator Program, in collaboration with Miner Library, the Molecular Biology Information Support Service (MBISS) provides assistance with analysis of genomic and proteomic data. MBISS provides information about tools used to perform genomic and proteomic data analysis and provides training sessions and workshops for specific software.

Identification of Needs

Structured as a go-to resource, the MBISS assists researchers to identify options for approaches to analysis of generated genomic and/or proteomic data. Through consultation with the Molecular Navigator, researchers receive support to develop analysis plans, including identification of research questions that generated data can answer, as well as methods for performing identified analyses.

Identification of Analysis Tools

The MBISS provides assistance with identification and utilization of available tools for analysis of genomic and proteomic data. Web-hosted tools are available through free, public resources, as well as through commercial providers. The Molecular Navigator assists researchers with the identification of options for software packages and online databases to perform intended analyses.

A range of publicly available resources is managed through the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI).

Miner Library manages access to additional commercial analytic software, for which user licenses have been purchased.

Training Sessions and Workshops

Beginning in Spring 2011, training sessions for hands-on demonstrations of proprietary software programs and informational workshops for web-based free software and databases will be offered.
