Study Coordinators Organization for Research and Education (SCORE)

Background

The Study Coordinators Organization for Research and Education (SCORE) is the culmination of efforts that began years ago at the University of Rochester Medical Center. In 2003, a group of staff members began organizing meetings of the URMC Study Coordinators Group (SCG). This group met semi-regularly, and offered valuable resources for URMC Coordinators. In June of 2007, under the auspices of the Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) and its Community Engagement Key Function, Ann Dozier began to organize meetings for the Recruitment and Retention Users Group. This group was to be directed by and for study coordinators, and would offer resources and assistance in recruitment and retention of study participants. In June of 2008, multiple brainstorm sessions revealed a need for more comprehensive study coordinator support and the Study Coordinators Organization for Research and Education (SCORE) was established.
