Q: How does the Institutional Review Board (IRB) process work?
A: This process is explained on the IRB web site.

Q: What kind of data is available from the data lab project?
A: Survey data, utilization data, administrative data, geographic data and population data.

Q: Who is eligible to request data?
A: Students, faculty and staff with an established affiliation with the University of Rochester.

Q: How do I request data?
A: Fill out and submit the Dataset Request Form online. The request form is to be found by clicking on 'Request a Database'.

Q: Who needs IRB approval?
A: In general, IRB approval is not required for any class project or thesis paper. However, if you wish to publish this work in the future, permission from the IRB is necessary.

Q: What kind of technical support does the Datalab Project provide?
A: Please e-mail us at datalab_support@urmc.rochester.edu for any specifics.

Q: How long does it take to receive the dataset?
A: Most requests are processed within one week, but those that are more complicated may require additional time.
