The Developmental Core stimulates and supports new HIV/AIDS research by catalyzing collaborative lines of investigation, facilitating recruitment of investigators, mentoring and training of junior faculty to create a stimulating intellectual and scientific environment.

Pilot Awards

The Developmental Core provides funding to support…

  • New collaborative efforts in strategically selected areas of opportunity (e.g., Prevention/Behavior, Optics and Nanomedicine, Mathematical Modeling, and International Collaborations)
  • The generation of preliminary data for new grant applications
  • Travel Fellowships for training and international collaboration

Recruitment

The Developmental Core aims to facilitate recruitment of new HIV/AIDS investigators by supporting new researchers and established investigators who are new to HIV/AIDS research as well as the recruitment of new faculty to the University.

Mentoring and Career Development

Mentoring Committees are established for junior faculty who are awarded a developmental pilot award. The Developmental Core aims to continue to provide mentoring and career development support to ensure the ongoing success and progress of these investigators towards independent funding.

Grant Review and Consulting

D-CFAR Core directors provide consultative guidance and scientific expertise to improve the quality and competitiveness of grant proposals.

  • Contacting external collaborators as needed

Educational Activities and Seminars

The D-CFAR supports various Multidisciplinary Seminars and hands-on workshops for Investigators and graduate students working on HIV/AIDS related projects.
