Multidisciplinary Pilot Awards

To support new multidisciplinary HIV/AIDS research collaborations. Applications will be solicited in specific interdisciplinary areas that were identified as “opportunity areas” during our strategic planning process: (A) Optics and Nanomedicine, (B) prevention/behavior research, (C) mathematical and computational modeling, and (D) international collaborations. Investigator-initiated proposals in other inter-disciplinary areas will also be considered. Priority will be given to projects with high impact and strong potential for extramural funding, as well as applications from junior faculty and to faculty who do not presently work on HIV/AIDS.  New cross-disciplinary HIV/AIDS research collaborations will be defined as studies that involve at least one D-CFAR faculty member plus a researcher not currently working on HIV/AIDS.  For international collaborations, studies will involve at least one UR D-CFAR faculty member plus at least one South African investigator.
