Open Positions in the Division of Community Dentistry

Division Chair

The University of Rochester Medical Center, Eastman Department of Dentistry, invites nominations and applications for the position of chair of the Division of Community Dentistry and Oral Disease Prevention at the professor or associate professor level. 

The division has administrative oversight for the community dentistry outreach program, graduate education, and research. Interested individuals should have a M.P.H., Ph.D., or equivalent degree in a health related field. Candidates with a dental degree must have a dental license or be eligible for a license to practice dentistry in New York State.

Preference will be given to candidates who are board certified in public health and have the demonstrated expertise to lead a large multidisciplinary division.

As the division has a strong research focus, advanced training in epidemiology or health services research is desirable. The University offers a significant compensation package commensurate with qualifications of the appointee.

Assistant or Associate Professor

The University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, Eastman Department of Dentistry, invites nominations and applications for the position of assistant or associate professor in the Division of Community Dentistry and Oral Disease Prevention.

The division has a rich heritage in teaching, research excellence and service to the community and is responsible for graduate education in dental public health, community dentistry and epidemiology; research in community oral health and oral disease prevention, and has administrative oversight for the division's outreach programs.

The division has a close working relationship with the School of Medicine and Dentistry's Clinical Trials Coordinating Center, Departments of Pediatrics, Biostatistics and Community and Preventive Medicine, and the Center for Oral Biology in the Aab Institute of Biomedical Sciences. The division also interacts collaboratively with the City of Rochester School District, the Monroe County Department of Health and the Dental Bureau of the New York State Department of Health.

Nominees and applicants with a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in a health related field with advanced training in health services research, epidemiology, public health or biostatistics will be given highest consideration. A D.D.S./D.M.D./M.P.H. and board eligible/certified in Dental Public Health is desirable. Candidates with a dental degree must have a dental license or be eligible for a license to practice in New York State. Preference will also be given to individuals with grant funding and/or the demonstrated ability to build a strong research program in oral/dental epidemiology and/or health services research.

The successful candidate will be expected to enhance the division’s research, post-doctoral teaching and service activities and will be appointed at the assistant or associate professor level. A joint appointment in the Department of Community and Preventive Medicine is possible depending upon qualifications. Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience of the appointee and includes the opportunity to join the Medical Center Faculty Group Practice for the D.D.S./D.M.D. appointee.

Pediatric Assistant Professor

The University of Rochester Medical Center, Eastman Institute for Oral Health, invites nominations and applications for the position of pediatric assistant professor in the Division of Community Dentistry and Oral Disease Prevention.  Major responsibilities include clinical supervision and dental care to schoolchildren at satellite clinics in Rochester inner city and rural communities.

Applicants must be licensed to practice in New York State and have completed an accredited pediatric residency program. Candidates with advanced training in public health or completion of an M.P.H. are preferred.

Open Positions in the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

The University of Rochester School of Medicine & Dentistry, Eastman Institute for Oral Health is currently conducting a search for a full-time faculty position of chief in the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and a position for a junior faculty member in the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.   Major responsibilities include didactic and clinical teaching at the graduate level, patient care, and research.

Applicants must be board certified or a candidate for board certification, and acquire a license to practice dentistry in the state of New York.  Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
