You’ll become a clinically-oriented individual with the necessary background to think critically and function accordingly.

 

Extensive exposure to a diverse faculty, fellow residents, and clinical research gives you the opportunity to choose any one, or all three of these roles for the future.

Ross Tallents, DDS

Dr. Tallents’ research interests include the diagnosis and management of patients with pain mechanisms in the medullary dorsal horn.

Program Objectives

Clinical Activities

Residents develop clinical expertise with an understanding of differential diagnosis, treatment planning, and outcomes assessment of patients with facial pain. TMJ residents will rotate through the division of neuro-ophthalmology headache clinic.

Courses

The orofacial pain curriculum includes fundamental concepts in growth and development, neuroanatomy, diagnostic imaging, joint physiology, and disorders associated with orofacial pains.

Research

Residents are required to complete a clinical or basic science research project of publishable quality. Originality and independent study is expected.

Other Educational Opportunities

Programs leading to the Master of Science or Doctor of Philosophy degree can be integrated with the clinical training program through the University of Rochester or pursued independently for residents enrolling in the three year program.
