Research:
Risk factors associated with caries onset in children, intra-oral fluoride-releasing devices, anti-caries chemotherapeutic agents and restorative materials, root surface dental caries, radiation-induced xerostomia and dental caries, hyposalivation in the elderly, and studies on the etiology and epidemiology of xerostomia. Collaborative interests include access to care, utilization of oral health programs and oral health disparities in under represented minorities, with emphasis on early childhood caries (ECC) in Hispanic children.

Additional Education:
NIDR postdoctoral fellowship in cariology at the University of Minnesota.

 

OVERVIEW

Dr. Billings has over 30 years of experience as a clinical investigator and research administrator. He is the principal or co-principle investigator of both federally and industrially funded studies. These include clinical studies of risk factors associated with caries onset in children, intra-oral fluoride-releasing devices, anti-caries chemotherapeutic agents and restorative materials, root surface dental caries, radiation-induced xerostomia and dental caries, hyposalivation in the elderly, and studies on the etiology and epidemiology of xerostomia.
