OVERVIEW |
| Dr. Karp was appointed assistant professor in the Division of Pediatric Dentistry of the Eastman Department of Dentistry in 2004 and the Department of Pediatrics in 2006. Dr. Karp is a diplomate of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. He is on the editorial board for the journal Pediatric Dentistry and is a member of the American Dental Association, the American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association, the New York State Dental Association, the Seventh District Dental Society and the American and International Association of Dental Research.
Dr. Karp focuses his clinical practice on the dental management of children with early childhood caries and those with complex developmental and medical conditions. Dr. Karp is a member of the Pediatric Cleft and Craniofacial team at the Golisano Children’s Hospital at Strong and of the University Dental Faculty Group where he treats patients in the outpatient setting at the Eastman Dental Center and in the operating room at Strong Memorial Hospital. |
CLINICAL INTERESTS
Dental management of pediatric patients with: early childhood dental cavities, pediatric cancer, long QT syndrome, craniofacial abnormalities, metabolic and chromosomal syndromes.

RESEARCH INTERESTS
Prevention of oral and dental sources of infection in childhood cancer patients.
Craniofacial development, the role of the oral epithelium
in tooth development, epidemiology and management of patients
with cardiac arrhythmia.
