RESEARCH INTERESTS Information technology, evidence-based dental practice and dental decision making as well as dental treatment of medically compromised patients.
OVERVIEW
Dr. Thierer's research interests include dental decision-making, treatment of medically compromised and special care patients, dentist-patient communication, and postdoctoral dental education. His current projects include exploring patient preferences for oral health, reduction of dental anxiety and looking at barriers to obtaining oral health care. Dr. Thierer is a consultant for the American Dental Association Commission on Dental Accreditation and has sat on their Postdoctoral General Dentistry Review Committee. He is Chair-Elect of the Council of Hospitals and Advanced Education Programs of the American Dental Education Association. Dr Thierer is Secretary of Region II of the American Association of Hospital Dentists. He is a member of the International/American Association of Dental Research, the American Association of Public Health Dentistry, the Federation of Special Care Organizations in Dentistry and the Society for Medical Decision Making.
