Eastman Dental
Center, the Community Health Outreach Programs, Strong Memorial
Hospital, and the University Dental Faculty Group sites are part
of the Division of Eastman Dental Center and they provided over
125,000 patient visits during the past academic year.
A significant
amount of that oral health service was provided to underserved
populations in the Rochester and surrounding county area. That
included care for over 32,000 Rochester’s urban and rural
area residents—including nearly 17,000 Medicaid patients,
over 9,000 children, the elderly, special needs patients, such
as the homeless, disabled, and those with HIV/AIDS.
The third SMILEmobile
finished its first year in operation and increased the number of
urban and rural children cared for through the Community Dentistry
Outreach programs to 6,500.
Specialty areas
including the Salivary Dysfunction Clinic, the Craniofacial Genetics
Clinic, and the Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction Clinic linked
physicians and oral health providers to serve the needs of the
medically compromised.
University Dental
Faculty Group sites at Eastman Dental Center, Strong Memorial Hospital,
Clinton Crossings, University Oral Surgery Associates, and Craniofacial
Diagnostic Imaging, provided oral health care to University employees
and private patients.
