Annuity Gift Offers Hope for Cure

campaign4Carl Lasky recently established a charitable gift annuity – his second with the University of Rochester – to support the Wilmot Cancer Center. Carl explained why: “I was a depression-era kid and still remember that time. Those days stay with you and influence your attitudes. Now that I’m a little better off, I want to do something to help others who might not be as well off and are in need of medical help.”

“I think cancer is one of the scourges of society at this time and, with all that I see and read about cancer being such a deadly disease, I thought the Wilmot Cancer Center would be a good place to donate,” says Lasky, a lifelong Rochesterian.

“My annuities are just what was promised. A certain amount was tax deductible for income tax purposes. I receive regular payments of a set amount. And, the people that I’ve worked with at the University have been very helpful and cooperative. I’ve been very happy with the results.” Perhaps a charitable gift annuity would meet your needs, too.

Here are some of the benefits:

  • Charitable gift annuities return guaranteed income to the annuitant(s) for life.
  • Funding with cash generates significant tax-free income.
  • Funding with appreciated securities avoids capital-gain taxes.
  • At the passing of the last annuitant, the remaining funds pass to the Wilmot Cancer Center for a purpose of the donor’s choosing.
