2nd annual Linda Lehrer memorial walk for lung cancer

This year, Jenna Lehrer hosted the walk on May 17 in Webster, in memory of her mother. Friends and family came out to show their support and collected pledges that raised over $7,000 for lung cancer research.

Meaghan’s 5k

To honor Meaghan Latone’s current fight with non smoker’s lung cancer, Gail Wagner along with Meaghan’s friends and family planned a 5k to raise awareness and funds for lung cancer research. Over 800 people attended on April 12th to show their support. The event raised an impressive $52,000 and counting. Girls Hit the Ring to Knockout Breast Cancer

Over 200 people came out on April 4th to Oak Hill Country Club to watch amateurs and pro boxers put on the gloves to help fight breast cancer to support the new Comprehensive Breast Care Center at the James P. Wilmot Cancer Center. Julie Doyle along with her committee put together a great night of entertainment that raised over $30,000.

Rock Fest ‘07

WGCC 90.7 FM at Genesee Community College held last fall Rock Fest ’07. The event included several local rock bands to perform for students and the community. Through ticket sales and a drawing for a Halo Guitar the event raised $941 to support the Wilmot Cancer Center.

Valentine’s Happy Hour

Thank you all who came out despite the weather to our inaugural Valentine’s Happy Hour on Tuesday, February 12th. The night’s event held at Northfield Food & Drink was a huge success in raising $2,000 for cancer research and patient care at the Wilmot Cancer Center.

James D. Marasco Memorial Golf Tournament

Jim Marasco organized a golf tournament at Brockport Country Club on Sunday September 2 in memory of his father. James D. Marasco, a retired Gates police officer, passed away from cancer after a seven year battle in December 2006. Jim said "It's not only to honor him, but the people who took care of him. He (his dad) thought very, very highly of them. They thought of him as family and he felt the same." The day's event hosted 75 golfers and raised over $2,800 for the bone marrow transplant unit at the Wilmot Cancer Center. check presentation

"Cuts for the Cause"

Tangles Hair Salon and Day Spa located in Irondequoit hosted this event on Sunday August 26 at their location on Culver Road. For a $10 donation each person received a haircut by their staff. The day also included live music and a BBQ. Thank you to the Ridge Culver Volunteer Fire Department for lending one of their trucks for the kids to see up-close. The day's event raised over $2,800 with half of the proceeds benefiting patient care and cancer research at the Wilmot Cancer Center.

WNY Motocross Association "Kick the C out of Cancer Series"

The Western NY Motocross Association held a Kick the "C" out of Cancer Series early in their season to benefit the Wilmot Cancer Center. Thank you to Larry and Holly Wooster who organized swap meets, vintage dirt bike racing and raffles to raise $1,727 for cancer research and patient care. Kudos also go to the Atomic Racing Team, whose father and son co-owners Patrick and Sean Callahan, presented a check for $5,000 in memory of Patrick's father Joe Callahan who lost his battle to cancer in February 2006.

Pi Day at Rush Henrietta 9th grade Academy

Rush-Henrietta 9th Grade Academy held "Pi-day" on March 14th. The students earned their right to "pie" their math teacher by bringing in change. The students raised $1,150!!!

Jar Wars at Cosgrove Middle School

Spencerport's Cosgrove Middle School held their annual 'Jars Wars' competition to benefit the Wilmot Cancer Center. The 6th-8th graders competed against the faculty raising $2,685. Congratulations to the students for winning by a landslide.

Snow Volleyball Tournament at Churchville Chili High School

Churchville Chili High School hosted a "Snow Volleyball Tournament" to benefit the Wilmot Cancer Center. By creating teams and competing against their peers and teachers they were able to raise $1,000!!!
